Jan. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Paycheck in, and at the end of the month we are wondering where all that money went. If you take a closer look here’s how the average U.S. consumer unit spends their annual paycheck:
•   More than 30% leaves your bank account immediately for housing.
•   Than there’s approx. 10% for eating, both food at home and away from home.

We can’t stop eating can we. Plus, as most of us are not very found of the concept of living on the streets, we need to pay money for shelter. This means we are left with 60% of our income to spend for something else. It seems we have to spend around 40% of the money simply to ‘survive’.

If we take a closer look, we will find that another large chunk of the paycheck goes to paying off those annoying credit card debts. This is a huge burden as nobody likes to receive the skyrocketing credit card bills each and every month. So there goes almost another 10% of your money.

Than there’s money to be paid for health care, pensions and insurances. We don’t want to end up with a nasty disease on the streets after working 35-40 years, do we? Another wonderful amount of nearly 20%. The rest is spent for clothing, transportation, entertainment, vacations etc.

It is highly recommended to evaluate where you stand at a certain moment in time thus giving you the opportunity to change your negative spending habits. As all of us know, little expenses can add up to huge amounts. If you sit down and thoroughly analyze your credit card statement, you should be honest and ask yourself if all those purchases you made were really necessary. Cutting down on credit card debt is very powerful. It will have an immediate impact on the money left at the end of the month. Constantly putting some money aside in your savings account will not only give you that feeling of security but will also enhance your positive habit of mastering your balance-sheet.
