This year we see a rise in such bespoke solutions but with more software based solutions which enhance the user experience, we see 2012 the year for augmented reality as being new and innovative marketing solution.
The interaction is taken from a standard touch screen display to an out of screen 3d experience in some ways. Being able to manipulate and hold a product before purchase is what every user or consumer in the retail sector wants.
The retail industry has still to fully adopt this technology and see the many advantages it provides, especially with the advances in augmented reality and multi touch signage displays.
Augmented reality could be implemented within a glass window projection, allowing users to interact with the display from outside the retail outlet, adding augmented enabled leaflets to display products or messages. This subtle fun marketing technique is the approach which works best and signage implemented with such bespoke software is one way of achieving this.
Augmented reality was seen as a perfect fit for navigation around buildings such as museums or shopping centres, Giving the user not only a 3d map but gives you the overall marketing approach.
