Jan. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Harrows Chicken Pot Pies was started back in the 1930's when Mr. Charles Harrow and his wife started selling their homemade chicken pot pies from a store on Route 28 in Reading, MA.  In 1956 Walter Arsenault purchased the company and then in 1995 his son’s Dan & Wally purchased the business from their father. Since the start of the business, the Town and area have changed a lot, but these slow cooked chicken pies are still a comfort food worth traveling for and customers do. Some customers have come as far as Rhode Island and New Hampshire to purchase what has been called the “Best in New England” by the Phantom Gourmet.  Times have certainly changed since the 1930’s and people don’t have the luxury of time. The strategic decision to opening additional retail stores in Medford, Saugus and Tewksbury was based on the distance from Reading so that the customers in the new areas will recognize the Harrows brand and enjoy the pies that are made by this family business and delivered fresh daily. Each new store is in a landmark location and the Reading location is a destination landmark.
During these tough economic times it’s important for people to support their local community businesses and “buy local” and despite all Harrows Chicken Pot Pies is making it in Massachusetts, because they are dedicated and committed to the communities they serve; supporting many charitable organizations and hiring locally.
