Ratnayake and Prasad conduct coaching seminar for Thailand’s young cricketers

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Cricket Association of Thailand are pleased to announce a Bowling and Cricket Coaching Seminar with Sri Lankan former pace bowler Rumesh Ratnayake and former Indian cricketer and bowling Coach Venkatesh Prasad.
 
Jan. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- The training is being held 11-13 January 2012 for Thailand’s National Girls Under-19 Team, four TGCA students and twenty-two selected male and female cricketers from all over Thailand in the Under 16 division. Northern Thailand’s top training facility, Three-Generation Cricket Academy in Chiang Mai, will be hosting the event utilizing their grounds at the Prem Oval, practice facilities, classrooms and on-site accommodation.

This seminar’s focus is aiding and improving the skills of Thailand’s talented young cricketers and it will provide a terrific opportunity for them to learn from two top legends in the field. The seminar will cover a range of topics including tactics and strategy, technique, and physical preparation. The tips from Ratnayake and Prasad will come at the just the right time for U-19 female cricketers as they are preparing for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 tournament to be held from 6 – 17 February in Kuwait.

Ratnayake, a strapping right-arm fast-medium bowler played twenty-three Tests and seventy one-day internationals from 1982 to 1993. After retirement he has been a national fast-bowling coach for Sri Lanka and was recently appointed head coach of the Sri Lankan national team for the tour of Australia in August, 2011. He is a Level III certified coach and has been a development officer with the Asian Cricket Council since 2001.

One of India’s greatest pacers, renowned bowling coach for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League and Indian cricket team from 2007 to 2009, Venkatesh Prasad, a right-armed medium-fast bowler is now currently in Thailand as Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Development Officer.
