Jan. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- The United States Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service have recently returned from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Trade Mission to Turkey.  Combustion Associates, Inc. (CAI) was one of 15 companies invited to take part in this productive delegation. Accompanied by Michael C. Camuñez, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Merryl Burpoe, Deputy Director for Eurasia, U.S. Department of Energy, to Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, CAI V.P. Ms. Kusum Kavia said “It was an honor to attend this important renewables mission in Turkey, and a great opportunity for CAI to expand into this vibrant new market. We learned a great deal during the trip, which included insightful tours of local businesses and factories.”
The goal of the mission was to help U.S. companies in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency industries in their efforts to identify profitable opportunities and new markets, and to increase their export potential in joint cooperation with Turkish companies. The mission’s leaders were able to establish high level contacts in this key industry for the accompanying U.S. companies.

Mission participants were introduced to the Turkish Ministry of Energy, regulatory agencies, international agents and distributors. The visitors also spent time at the Izmir Ataturk Organized Industrial Zone, which was targeted by the U.S.  Department of Energy for a Near-Zero Zone Project (NZZ) to promote industrial energy efficiency and potential export opportunities.  For Kavia and CAI, the mission represents an opportunity to expand the company’s three core initiatives of power generation, process solutions and environmental air pollution solutions. The company specializes in 1 to 10 MW power generators, which can power thousands of homes and businesses. The generators are unique in the fact that they can operate on multiple fuel sources and are equipped to harness and reuse exhaust waste heat for process heating and cooling, whereby increased energy efficiencies are realized.
“I hope to forge many new business relationships through this experience and have already been in touch with select contacts made during the trip,” Kavia said.
