The briefing was held in advance of Thursday’s Energy Dinner, where Chilean President Sebastián Piñera, along with Minister of Energy Rodrigo Alvarez, will be announcing energy policies to be implemented in Chile over the next 20 years, based on the final report to the Advisory Committee for the electric development, CADE, handed to the President on 16 November. The meeting was led by General Ricardo Ortega Perrier, chairman of IFT ENERGY 2012, and Tom Kallman, President and CEO Kallman Worldwide (the event's organizer). Kallman attended along with his United States staff via videoconference. Indicating the comprehensive nature of the IFT ENERGY 2012 trade show and conference, among the organizations participating in this week’s planning meeting were: ACERA, Achee, ACHS, AMCHAM, ANESCO, Asociación Generadoras, Austrian Embassy, BNamericas, Camara Francochilena, CAMIT, CCBC, CER, Empresas Electricas, Industral Information Resourses, JETRO, Malaysian Embassy, Ministry of Energy of Chile, OLADE, PRO CHILE, Spanish Embassy, UBIFRANCE, UK Embassy, and the US Embassy. Kallman stressed the importance of adding new exhibitors of international significance to the event. "Chile--and in particular, Santiago—has become a global business center; each of the organizations that support us should benefit with the significant reach we have planned for this event.” The partners at the planning meeting will contribute to the various IFT ENERGY conference sessions and will continue to endorse and promote the event through their respective trade departments around the world. The next stakeholder briefing will be 5 March, which coincides with the "World Energy Efficiency Day.” IFT ENERGY 2012, 9-11 May, in Santiago, Chile’s Espacio Riesco, is Latin America’s International Conference and Exhibition for Electrical Energy Solutions. The event, organized under the patronage of the Chilean Ministry of Energy, is also supported by more than 25 major public and private agencies.
