Baker, who has anchored the news on WTOC -TV for the last 22 years, is well-known throughout the community as a woman who cares about her fellowman and works to help the less fortunate. She said, "I am deeply honored to receive this award. The fact that it comes from an organization founded by the late Dr. King, a visionary whom I admire so much, makes this recognition even more meaningful."
The Honorable Isaac Farris, the National President of the SCLC and nephew of the slain civil rights leader, will present the award to Baker Saturday Afternoon during the M.L.K. Unity Dinner. Farris was supposed to present the award later that night at a special celebration, but ironically, Baker will be speaking at a Dr. King celebration in Glennville at that same time.
