Jan. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Premier Academy, Inc. announces its 40th Anniversary Legacy Gala scheduled March 24, 2012 8:00 pm to 12:00 am at The Loudermilk Center honoring community leaders that have partnered with them to meet the needs of Georgia's children. This evening will celebrate Premier's longstanding commitment and service to children and families who reside in metro Atlanta's most marginalized and underserved communities.  Honorary Co-Chairs include Ms. Leona Barr-Davenport, President and CEO of the Atlanta Business League, and Ms. Donata R. Major, President of the Herman J. Russell Foundation and Vice Chair of Concessions International, LLC. Individual tickets are only $100 and group tickets are available.  Proceeds from the event will benefit scholarships for low-income children and other critical resources for families in need.

This year, Legacy Gala guests can expect to enjoy dinner, live entertainment, and a silent auction while making a lasting impact on the educational outcomes of more than 400 children each year. For over 40 years, Premier Academy has provided the educational foundation for more than 21,000 children. "Premier Academy has removed barriers to quality education for thousands of at-risk children over the years and strengthened their families and the community," writes Honorary Co-Chair Leona Barr-Davenport "Premier's mission focuses on the development of the total child, building a program that will have the greatest long-term impact on the educational and life outcomes for our children."

The Legacy Gala will also recognize the outstanding accomplishments in the areas of child and education advocacy with the Legacy Awards. Recipients include: Robin H. Ferst, Founder of the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy; Elaine P. Draeger, CEO and President of Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers; and Pat Willis,Executive Director of VOICES for Georgia's Children.
 
Executive Director, Cindra Taylor says, "In honoring these individuals whose professional and personal standards and achievements serve as a model to others, Premier underscores the importance of educational access and achievement for all of Georgia's children." She continues,  "While I am most proud of the Premier's accomplishments during the last 40 years, our organization is constantly looking ahead to broaden the impact of our programming and services well into the future because far too many children are unprepared for academic success in Atlanta."
