Jan. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry has turned to an experienced faculty member in Dr. James Kaszuba for the key role of Director of Initial Patient Care. Dr. Kaszuba is a six-year veteran of the Comprehensive Care program in the College’s Monet Clinic, and is an Assistant Professor in the Department Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences.

In his new role, Dr. Kasuzba’s responsibilities “are directly related to the management and supervision of all aspects of initial patient screening and urgent care treatment at the College,” he said.

Associated administrative duties to include faculty calibration, supervision of the initial patient experience to include procurement and review of radiographs, arbitration of patient concerns, and acting as a liaison between the various post-graduate programs at the College.

Dr. Kaszuba hopes to streamline the screening and urgent care processes to simulate a private practice model, “to insure timely and compassionate patient-centered care and act as a source for patient advocacy,” he said.

“I also strive to serve our students as a source of clinical education for screening, policy, and procurement of initial diagnostic material,” Dr. Kaszuba noted.

He already has re-instituted the faculty Continuing Education program, “to stimulate sharing of information to adapt to the constant evolution of change, not only in curriculum but in evidence-based patient care,” Dr. Kaszuba said.
