Fusion Middleware

Oracle Fusion Middleware is now with us and has created one of the biggest waves we have seen within the Oracle community and indeed the whole BIS community for a long time (perhaps since the rapid take up of the eBusiness Suite post Y2K).

Oracles Fusion Middleware11g represents the #1 application infrastructure foundation available today, with it’s hot-pluggable architecture allows you to; make the most of your current investments in applications and technology, speed up implementation and lower the cost of management and change whilst taking advantage of modern hardware and software architectures.

Oracle’s Fusion Middleware is a family of Oracle product’s including application development and integration solutions through to Identity Management, Collaboration Suite and Business Intelligence reports.

With Fusion Middleware, Oracle now provides a clear path for development, providing a suite of tools and framework to harness (and integrate with) Web 2.0 technologies.

These include:
•   Application Development Tools
•   Enterprise Application Server
•   User Interaction
•   Business Intelligence
•   Content Management
•   Identity Management
•   Integration and Process Management
•   Systems Management

iTrains fusion middleware offerings cover but are not limited to the following three principle elements:

•   Application development tools / Web2.0 Development (J2ee development, ADF, JDeveloper)
•   Enterprise Application Server (Weblogic Application Server)
•   User interaction/Collaboration (WebCenter Suite)

Web2.0 Development

Oracle’s development strategy has long been moving away from their traditional products, Forms, Reports and PL/SQL. iTrain’s support for these disciplines started with Forms v3 and Report v2, however iTrain were also one of the first independent Oracle specialists to provide specific support for the integration of Java and Oracle technologies.

With Fusion Middleware a clear development path and suite of products is now available to Oracle developers wishing to develop Web 2.0 Applications. These Applications can be fully managed via the Fusion Middleware products Webcenter and deployed via Weblogic or alternatively opensource, Web 2.0 products such as JBoss.
Similarly customers not electing to fully harness Oracle’s development path will still benefit from iTrains development as they are taught fully compliant to Web 2.0 standards. Contact our team to discuss you specific requirements.

Oracle’s support for customers using Forms and PL/SQL continues, with Forms 11g (although the integration of Java and promotion of JDeveloper as a familiar and productive programming environment underlines the Java strategy).
Similarly Application Express APEX provides a robust home for PL/SQL developers who require a rapid web application development tool for the Oracle database to develop and deploy fast and secure applications.

Enterprise Application Server

Following Oracle’s acquisition of BEA, Weblogic is now Oracle’s application server offering, with de-support for Oracle Application Server due to take place shortly. Technically and skillwise, Oracle’s Weblogic 11g represents a substantial shift from Oracle Application Server, so iTrain provide consulting expertise and comprehensive hands on training to assist your smooth migration. Details of our training services can be found here, or to discuss consulting support please contact our Oracle Fusion Middleware Team.

User Interaction/

Oracle WebCenter is an integrated set of components with which you can create social applications, enterprise portals, collaborative communities, and composite applications. Built on a standards-based, service-oriented architecture. WebCenter is Oracle’s strategic direction for Portal customers.

Oracle WebCenter combines dynamic user interface technologies with which to develop rich internet applications. It also provides the flexibility and power of an integrated, multi-channel portal framework, and a set of horizontal Enterprise 2.0 capabilities delivered as services that provide content, collaboration, presence, and social networking capabilities.

Based on these components, Oracle WebCenter also provides an out-of-the-box enterprise-ready customisable application, WebCenter Spaces, with a configurable work environment that enables individuals and groups to work and collaborate more effectively.
