Royal Navy join officials from North America & Europe to discuss future afloat support capabilities

Jan. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Officials from the Royal Navy, US Navy and NATO will gather in London in March to examine the future of afloat support technologies, systems and operations at the 7th Annual Afloat Support and Naval Logistics conference.

Commodore William Walworth, Commodore of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary; Jonathan Kaskin SES, Director of Combat Logistics and Strategic Mobility, Chief of Naval Operations N4, US Navy and Commander Visti Salomonsen, Head of Logistics, Current Operations (Naval), Royal Danish Navy, will analyse the immense challenges the afloat support community are currently facing and the latest technologies and platforms that can increase afloat support capabilities.

Afloat Support and Naval Logistics 2012 will incorporates a session led by Rear Admiral (Junior Grade) Derek J. Christian, Director of Naval  Logistics, South Africa Navy on the future of afloat replenishment at sea and fleet capability in the South African Navy. Rear Admiral (Junior Grade) Derek J. Christian will also join the speaker panel at the Afloat Support and Naval Logistics 2012 conference. Now in its 7th year, the event has extended its scope to demonstrate business opportunities in emerging market.

Key speakers to present at Afloat Support and Naval Logistics 2012 also include:

• Captain David A. Geisler, Commander, Military Sealift Command Central, US Navy, speaking on the future development and focus of MSCENT
• Colonel Pete Yeager, Director of Support, Naval  Striking and Support Forces, NATO,  addressing his experience from Operation Unified Protector    
• Commander Aki Honkanen, Head of Logistics, Maritime Security Centre, Horn of Africa, EU NAVFOR, presenting a case study on providing logistic support to anti-piracy missions
• Lieutenant Commander Giovanni Alessi, Maritime Logistics Officer, Italian Navy General Staff, Italian Navy and Chairman of the Naval Logistic Support Partnership (NLSP) NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA), focusing on the husbanding services and fuel support for naval operations
