Baron and Blue Foundation Announces Awards to Dallas-Area Nonprofit Organizations

The Baron and Blue Foundation awarded more than $500,000 in grants to Dallas-based non-profit organizations during 2011.

 
PRLog - Jan. 9, 2012 - DALLAS – The Baron and Blue Foundation has awarded a total of $563,900 in grants to more than 35 Dallas-based non-profit organizations during its spring and fall cycles of funding for 2011.

All grant recipients are dedicated to offering assistance to the homeless and less fortunate in Dallas County by providing shelter, food, medical assistance, counseling, clothing, vocational training, and/or treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues. Grants are awarded twice annually.

This year’s grant recipients for the Spring Cycle included Attitudes & Attire, Austin Street Centre, Captain Hope’s Kids, CitySquare (TRAC), Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, Dallas LIFE, The Family Place, Homeward Bound, Jonathan’s Place, Letot Center Capital Foundation, LifeLine Shelter for Families, Mosaic Family Services, NETWORK of Community Ministries, New Beginning Center, Promise House, Rainbow Days, Resolana, The Stewpot, Turtle Creek Recovery Center, Union Gospel Mission and the Vogel Alcove.

Grant recipients for the Fall Cycle of 2011 included AIDS Services of Dallas, Brighter Tomorrows, CitySquare, Community Partners of Dallas, Dallas Furniture Bank, Frazier Revitalization Inc., Housing Crisis Center, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Interfaith Housing Coalition, Legacy Counseling Center, LifeNet, Metrocare Services, Recovery Inn and SoupMobile.

“Every year, the Baron and Blue Foundation is humbled by the important, good works that our recipient organizations accomplish. This year, as the American economic crisis grows, we have seen a proportionate increase in need,” says Lisa Blue Baron, the Foundation’s Co-Founder and Vice President. “We hope that our mission to help the homeless of Dallas will inspire others to do the same. The Baron and Blue Foundation is dedicated to helping to eradicate homelessness in Dallas, and we are thankful for our grantee organizations that take this same mission directly to the people who need it most.”

Earlier this year, the Baron and Blue Foundation also awarded a special grant to the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance for the Bridge Homeless Assistance Center as part of the Foundation's 10-year celebration.

The application deadlines for next year’s funding are April 1, 2012, for the spring cycle and Sept. 1, 2012, for the fall cycle.
