Surveillance; What can make yours more successful

Tenured private detective in Costa Rica as well as the United States provides tips on how to enhance chances of a successful surveillance

Jan. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Recently I have had a number of cheating partner (husband/girlfriend) cases that have been quite successful The primary reason is due to the amount of information that was provided prior to starting the investigation. The more information available the more likely that questions relating to infidelity can be answered one way or the other.

First and foremost is current or recent photographs.

Many times people who are the target of a surveillance look different in person as opposed to photographs that they have posed for. The more the better and from different angles and times of the day.

Second is information concerning their location.

If it is a suspected cheating partner who is visiting Costa Rica, his itinerary, including his hotel is vital. One reason for this is due to the awkward nature of following someone from the airport. The airport is highly secured and does avail itself to easy surveillance. As a matter of practice we do follow people from the airport but this requires two or three agents working the surveillance as there is no parking in the pick up area and one way traffic patterns. All parking is in a garage that requires payment before exiting. Taxi's and courtesy transportation on the other hand pick up their passengers and immediately exit the airport. If the cheating partner is someone who lives here such as a girlfriend or wife, the location where they live is absolutely a necessity. Without this information locating them is problematic. If prior to starting an investigation you can pinpoint where the target lives this will save you money and time.

Thirdly, the more information provided with regard to their activities will only enhance the investigators ability in obtaining the proof that you seek..

If they plan to go to the beach or fishing or hiking, all information concerning such activities helps narrows the area to conduct a surveillance. If they live here such things as attendance to schools, gyms, beauty parlors, grocery shopping, etc., play a big role in narrowing the area and time in conducting a surveillance.

Fourthly, selection of a private detective is crucial to success.

Our firm routinely has clients that have hired other firms try and do this type of investigation with less than positive results. Prior to hiring the private investigator, the client had no idea of the challenges presented here in carrying out the assignment. Hiring someone you don't know is a "leap of faith" and unfortunately there are people who advertise their services who have little or no business conducting a surveillance.  The investigator used a third party local who ultimately went to the person being watched and sold the client out. Thus it behooves you to have a level of comfort in the person you choose to handle delicate or sensitive matters. After unsuccessfully attempting to get the evidence to prove or disprove infidelity, the visiting partner returned home armed with the information provided by the agent of the investigator and the client wound up losing the "lions share" of marital assets in the ensuing divorce proceedings.

We encourage our clients to carefully plan and prepare for a surveillance here.

By doing so they increase the chances of success and can bring to closure an unpleasant situation or enjoy the peace of mind knowing the truth. The more preparation the better the chances of a successful operation. This includes lead time to organize the resources to accomplish the objective. It is also a good idea to have the financial ability to do the job right. Surveillance is expensive no matter where it takes place. Those being watched are not considerate of time or your money. They do act on cue and therefore we as investigators must be patient and persistent to be in the right place at the right time to obtain the evidence you seek.
