Facebook Contest to Help Pay for Dental Costs in New Year

Jan. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- In January, DentalPlans.com and its Dental HyGenie mascot will award $2,012 towards dental care costs to one deserving fan through the “Grant a Dental Wish” Facebook contest at www.Facebook.com/DentalPlans.

Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10, through Monday, Jan. 16, DentalPlans.com Facebook fans can submit (up to) a 400-word story on how a prize of more than $2,000 for dental care expenses would help them in 2012.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Dental HyGenie and DentalPlans.com’s voting panel will share the top 10 dental care needs stories submitted by Facebook fans. Then, fans will have until Tuesday, Jan. 24 to vote for the person they feel could use the money towards their dental care bills the most.  

The first place winner of the “Grant a Dental Wish” contest will receive up to $2,012 towards the cost of their dental bills. Two runners-up will also win a free discount dental plan, which can be used with or without dental insurance, to save 10% to 60% on most dental care procedures.

“Our social media contest is a great way to not only help someone get the dental care they need, but also introduce more people to a solution in discount dental plans,” said Kristen Reineke, VP of Marketing for DentalPlans.com. “Millions of people are delaying dental appointments because of high out-of-pocket costs or because they’ve lost their dental insurance.”

While dental care expenses are only 4.3 percent of total health costs, consumers are paying more dental costs themselves. In 2011, the American Dental Association reported that consumers nationwide have delayed getting medical and dental care because of recession-related drops in household income and loss of health insurance.
