New Version of the O CAR Radio for the iPhone – the O CAR S – Debuts at 2012 CES Show

Jan. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Las Vegas, NV (2012 Consumer Electronics Show) - At the 2011 CES Show, Oxygen Audio made a huge splash with the introduction of the O CAR, a one-of-a-kind radio that transformed the user’s iPhone into a fully-functional faceplate on their car stereo. For this year’s CES, the official US distributor for O CAR – AAMP of America – has the honor of debuting the O CAR S – a new version designed for use with the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S – that boasts such features as an HD Radio receiver, Bluetooth hands-free calling, steering wheel radio control integration and more. Even better, the O CAR S has a new “No iPhone” mode, allowing the radio to be used without an iPhone, and audio inputs (3.5mm AUX and A2DP Bluetooth streaming) for use with the iPad, as well as Android and Blackberry devices.  

The new O CAR S is expected to be available at car audio specialty stores and retailers in the US in June of 2012 and the MSRP will be $299.95.

The O CAR S is designed to be as easy and intuitive to use as the iPhone itself. Simply click the iPhone into the O CAR S dock/charger and adjust the cradle to landscape or portrait mode. At this point, the iPhone is now the faceplace for your car stereo and is ready for use.  A self-launching app allows you to tune-in radio stations or control your stereo volume via the iPhone screen, and you can easily access all tracks, playlists, and apps with a touch of the screen.  All features ordinarily accessible through the iPhone (including navigation and Siri) are readily available for hands-free use.

The major new feature of the O CAR S is its ability to operate without the iPhone, as well as a “No iPhone” mode that allows it to play music from an iPad or iPod, or from an Android or Blackberry device. A lighted audio source switch indicates which mode the O CAR S is operating in (white for iPhone/radio mode, blue for Bluetooth streaming and red for 3.5mm audio AUX-IN). In radio mode, the O CAR S offers RDS-enabled AM/FM and HD Radio tuner, as well as steering wheel volume and track control.
