Fact or Opinion - New iPod/iPad App to Help Students Practice Reading Comprehension Skills

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 9, 2012 - e Skills Minimod Fact or Opinion helps student practice and master the important reading comprehension skill of determining if a passage is factually accurate or the writer's opinion. There are two question formats. In the first format, the player reads a passage and identifies it as a fact or an opinion. The other question format asks the player to select which of the 3 answer choices is a fact; other questions ask the player to decide which answer is an opinion.

Ways to Play  
Practice Level The student is asked to decide if the answer is a fact or an opinion. An incorrect response allows the student to read the passage again and select the correct answer.
 
Single Player The student plays a Bingo-like game against the computer. He/she reads the passage. Given a passage or three answer choices, the student will decide if the answer states a fact or if it is the author's opinion. Correctly identifying the answer as a fact or an opinion allows the student to place a marker on the game card. Five markers in a row win the game.

Multi Player The student plays a Bingo-like game against another student. The first student to fill his/her game card with five markers in a row wins the game.

Levels of Difficulty  
Red Level Reading Level 2.0 to 2.9
Blue Level Reading Level 3.0 to 3.9
Green Level Reading Level 4.0 to 4.9
