Exhibition for President’s Day weekend (February 16th-19th) 2012.
Clarksburg, WV (January 6th): The Graffiti of War Project opened their National Art
Exhibition in Pennsylvania for Veterans Day 2011 which was a resounding success. After taking abreak for the holiday season, the Project’s staff hit the ground running earlier this week and have now announced their next venue in Montgomery, NY. Mikey Teutual of American Chopper fame, has invited the Graffiti of War Project to showcase their Conflict Art Exhibit during Presidents Day weekend 2012.
This exhibit will be open to the public beginning on Friday, February 17th with a VIP event planned forthe evening of Thursday, February 16th. The VIP event will cater to local government, members of themilitary and veteran communities as well as VA Health Care professionals to discuss the details of the Graffiti of War Project and National Art Exhibition as well as the mission of their non-profit partners such as GiveAnHour and Art Reach Foundation.
The public opening on Friday afternoon will feature dozens of these unique images of art, Conflict Art, created by service members, civilians and local nationals while enduring the conflicts in Iraq & Afghanistan. These images were captured through almost 3 years of research and during the Summer Expedition to Kuwait & Iraq in June 2011. In addition, the exhibit will feature original works of art created by veterans, military family members as well as a local national currently living in Mosul Iraq.
The aim behind this exhibit is to showcase the emotions of war to those who have not experienced the horrors of combat and to bridge the widening cultural gap between warfighter and civilian. In doing so, the Project’s objective is to raise awareness for the brave men and women suffering the invisible wounds of war, such as PTSD and to promote the development of both traditional and non-traditional solutions for therapy through the non-profits the Project works with such as the Art Reach Foundation.
As the date of this event draws closer, the Graffiti of War Project’s Media & Public Relations Team will be extending invitations and releasing more details concerning the featured artists, corporate sponsors, and other activities scheduled around this very unique exhibit.
