Sunday, January 22, BIG ARTS will host auditions for the play readings. The auditions will be cold readings, at Schein Performance Hall, 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. Sign-in will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and auditions will be held until 4 p.m. Participants must sign-in by 2:30 p.m.
The plays were created by Sanibel playwrights Claudia Burns, Wally Kain, and Marcia Rudin. The scripts selected to be read are: Never Too Late by Claudia Burns, to be read Sunday, March 11; Carmin Garmen and Lady Godiva of Flamingo Landing, by Marci Rudin, and Homecoming for Sergeant Porter, by Wally Kain, to be read Sunday, April 1. All readings begin at 7:30 p.m.
Another play reading, Scenes from Shakespeare, will be performed by Robert Runck and Annette Trossbach, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, January 29, at Herb Strauss Theater. The two actors will perform scenes from Macbeth, the Oberon-Titania scenes from Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the Lady Anne seduction scene from Richard III. In addition, they will perform the Ages of Man from As You Like It, Clarence's Dream from Richard III, a prologue from Midsummer Night's Dream and an epilogue from The Tempest. These scenes and selections, which were written by Shakespeare, and adapted by Runck, will be performed as readings. Tickets are General $12, Child 17 and Under $5.
