Seminar 1 - Cracking the Code on Federal Employment – 10:00 am – 12:00 Noon
This workshop is geared for both those seeking to advance their Federal career and those interested in entering into Federal civil service. This is an interactive session with handouts. Federal employment is getting a second look because of mounting unemployment in the private sector and growing opportunities in the federal workforce. Learn how to search for Federal employment, become familiar with some of more common terms found in the federal recruitment process, learn how promotions work, find out some the most critical federal occupations, learn how to search for jobs, and learn how to determine whether or not you qualify for federal positions. Attendees will also be provided a demo in Avue Digital Services to assist with their job search.
Seminar 2 - Starting a Small Business - 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
This workshop will help individual understand what it will take to start or grow a business in Colorado. Resources will be provided to all participants on the importance of the federal, state, and local assistance available. Including in this session is the importance of a business Plan which articulates the business concept, potential markets, financial requirements risks, problems and trade- offs. Make the most of your resources and prepare yourself for success.
Resource Information about medical benefits, claim filing assistance, vocational rehabilitation, small business assistance and resume writing and more will be available to help answer those questions that have gone unasked for so many years will also be available in the same hall.
This event is open to all veterans, from all war eras, Guard, Reserve and active duty troops. There is no cost to those veterans wishing to take advantage of this opportunity. Employers will be looking to hire, so bring your resumes, dress appropriately and find out what might be available.
