“Spotlight” on Specials at South Florida Jewish Community Center's Cultural Arts Theatre!

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 6, 2012 - J-CAT, The J’s Cultural Arts Theatre at the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center, located on the Sanford L. Ziff Campus, 18900 NE 25th Avenue, North Miami Beach, now in its 5th season, will not just bring the Miami-Dade Community together for a show, but an entire “Theatrical Experience,” with the spotlight on special themed evening shows offering discounts and much more.

Last September, the J’s Cultural Arts Theater (otherwise known as J-CAT) at the South Florida Michael-Ann Russell JCC, drew in sold-out performances when they created a unique offering to Seniors, called a “Senior Soiree.” This particular afternoon of theatre featured the hilarious comedy, Moon Over Buffalo, with discounted ticket prices, a reception prior to the show, and a talkback with the cast and crew after the show. It was a great way to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what goes into putting on a production like this.

This year, J-CAT will be performing the well-known and poignant Steel Magnolias, based on the film that starred such legends as Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, Olympia Dukakis, and Shirley McClain. The play, which runs January 11-22, will once again offer the Senior Sunday Soiree (January 15, beginning at 1pm) as well as the opportunity for all the Gals to invite their Pals for a special Ladies Night performance on Thursday, January 19, at 7pm. Ladies will be able to purchase discounted tickets, and enjoy an evening with the women of tiny Chiquapin Parish, Louisiana who are tough as steel, yet delicate as a magnolia. “I’m really excited about this particular production of Steel Magnolias, as well as being able to offer two special performances for Seniors and Ladies, as I think it will bring more visibility to J-CAT’s ever-growing popularity,” expressed Ashley Blake Fisher, J-CAT’s Outreach Director.
