The redesign, first conceptualized in the Fall, was anticipated to improve much of the features on the site. These improvements includeda new homepage, enhanced product pages,better search options, a smoother checkout process, and a greater overallshopping experience.
The previous web store was only implemented a year ago, but “having an up to date, appealing website is very important” said Owner-Operator Duncan Vincent.Anotable difference at bestpricecables.com is the homepage. The original homepage was “filled with great deals on top selling products but this gave the site a very narrow vision, considering we carry over 7000 products.”Vincent explained how the new homepage takes a broader approach, similar to what might actually be seen in a store window. It has a big rotating banner featuring general products advertising. Below the rotating banner, there are a number of smaller buttons featuring deals on shipping and coupons. “The homepage is just like a store front. Itconvinces customers to come in, take a look around, and perhaps purchase an item with the amazing discount they saw advertised.”

The improved search options were also part of the new homepage. There are now four distinct buttons giving customers the ability to browse products by Popularity, Category, Best-Sellers, or a self directed Advanced Search. The change in the checkout process was minimal, but Vincent contends this was again highly crucial to making a sale. “An e-commerce site must provide a very secure feeling environment for customers who providing credit card information.”
Since the site upgrade at BestPriceCables the Ecommerce store has seen a healthy increase in sales. “This of course could be contributed to the up-coming holiday season” says Vincent, “but the correlation between the upgrade and improvement in sales was immediate.”
