How did you come up with the idea to hold these auditions?
Atlantic contacted us. I wish I could take credit for the idea! The V.P. of A&R contacted us and wanted to meet to talk about a partnership to find the next superstar. I met them at their office in Burbank and this is the result of that meeting.
Why did you choose to work with the folks at Atlantic Records?
Atlantic Records is an iconic brand. Who wouldn't want to be in business with them? We are thrilled and humbled to have them reach out to us. The partnership was really a no brainier! And what a gift to be able to offer our students and clients, many of whom are aspiring singers, a direct line into an incredible brand like Atlantic!
How does the judging work?
Myself along with two A&R executives from Atlantic will be on hand to see the talent and to hopefully find the next superstar! They should come prepared to sing a capella for one minute and dance for one minute.
What happens to the winner?
The winner will receive a development deal that would include Millennium Dance Complex and Atlantic Records.
What advice can you give to an aspiring Beyoncé or Chris Brown?
Get a good vocal coach and get to dance class! And the most important thing is to work hard. There is no substitute!!!
