Obesity is a disease. Obesity is an epidemic. Obesity kills. Obesity leads to chronic, debilitating diseases and early death. Childhood obesity has tripled in the past 30 years. Almost 75% of Americans are classified as overweight or obese. Obesity effects self esteem and is linked to depression. Obesity is currently the largest single cause for the discharge of uniformed military personnel. Obesity has been a contributing factor to approximately 400,000 deaths in the United States per year. Obesity costs society an estimated $117 billion in direct (preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services related to weight) and indirect (absenteeism, loss of future earnings due to premature death) costs.
For the first time, the generation of people being born today have a shorter life expectancy than their parents and this has been related to the effects of obesity.
If you woke up today with the CLEAR KNOWLEDGE that your child was in line to develop: diabetes, heart disease, stroke, breast cancer, depression, hypertension, vascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis, sleep apnea, arthritis, anxiety, colon cancer, ovarian cancer, infertility, PCOS, self esteem issues, gastric reflux, orthopedic problems, prostate cancer, nerve pain, ADD/ADHD, decreased immunity to disease, blindness, kidney failure….would you do anything to prevent these things from happening?
OBESITY IS PREVENTABLE and OBESITY IS TREATABLE.
The problem is that we are addressing this killer disease in the wrong way. Way back in the 1950’s, a decision was made that lowering calories, decreasing fat/cholesterol, and exercise would stop obesity and make us a healthier nation. What ensued was a campaign to sell low calorie, low fat, fat free foods. What occurred was the fast forwarding of all the above mentioned diseases. Why? Because over 55% of people cannot adequately process a diet that is high in carbohydrate. A low calorie, low fat diet is necessarily a higher carb diet.
Over 55% of the population will get fatter and sicker on a low calorie, low fat diet as they have in imbalance of the fat gain hormone, insulin. Excess insulin makes a person fatter (both body fat and circulating fat in the blood ie cholesterol/
Obesity begotten from the body’s over processing of carbs is very, very dangerous. It fatigues the pancreas and lead to diabetes (hence we have obesity and diabetes epidemics), it is inflammatory in nature, it presses all the buttons for metabolic syndrome (cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, blood sugar, obesity). It is the ruination of our health and well-being.
It’s time to take a stand. The government needs to take the initiative (and deal with the criticism) and admit that for the majority of the population who struggles with their weight, the traditional low calorie, low fat diet is not only ineffective…
The picture in the ad you will see on the link above saddens me. It shows a sad girl, who has Metabolism B, who is destined to get fatter and sicker through no fault of her own. She will become obese, her health will suffer. And this is happening before our eyes.
We look at the “fatter” child and look down on them. Society sees them as lazy, underachieving, with no self worth. Society is letting every overweight child down. Society’
There is nothing good that will come of this ad, except to ostracize the overweight children even more. They will be bullied more because they are being singled out as weak and unhappy. There is no solution given…just a “WANTED” poster to help these children be identified.
Let’s help them. www.themetabolismmiracle.com. Knowledge is power.
