K.O.R. Enterprises Inc. signs HeartBreak Kidz!

Jan. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- The newest signing to the KOR Enterprises Inc. family, HeartBreak Kidz, has made leaps and bounds towards unimaginable success. Don’t let their ages fool you–

Preppy-19, Charlie.S-18 and Dex-18 may only be teenagers, but they perform with the highest standards expected of an artist. They take their craft to the next level constantly working hard in the studio and collaborating amongst themselves to make musical gold. These three young men started with humble beginnings, but given the opportunity to hone their extraordinary talents the HeartBreak Kidz came together to become a musical phenomenon. All three add their part to the equation: Charlie puts down the anchor, Dex adds the swag, and Preppy throws out the hook. Together, these three Kidz lay their hearts out for the world to hear, and their beats ring true for anyone who has experienced heartache and pain. Their music knows no boundaries and their lyrics speak truths wiser than any scholar.  

“We say the things other kids want to say but can’t say,” said Preppy. “We’re the HeartBreak Kidz - we do whatever we want.” It’s that unstoppable attitude that drives these artists to create music, which relates to any situation, any genre, any person who has feeling. They are proactive creators - no matter what happens good or bad, they mold their music to fit the situation.  However, unlike the norm their emotions don’t always mirror the feelings in their songs, quite the opposite in fact. For sad moments they have an upbeat dance tune, for inspirational moments they take on a more grateful tone.

Whatever the situation one thing is for certain - HBK doesn’t need to spit vulgar lyrics or provocative rhymes - daily life has enough of that already. They take on a more positive approach that allows them to reach a wider range of audiences-teenagers and parents can both relate and enjoy their music.

HeartBreak Kidz have a motto - “Solo, but a group.” Individually, each holds his own as an artist, but together they are bound to become something greater. They are a tight unit, a brotherhood determined to never break up and never lose sight of their dreams.

The KIDZ

Charles Simmons (aka "Charlie.S") - Growing up on the South side of Chicago all his life, Charlie.S developed an aggressive style of rapping. His rhymes are unlike any other lyrical and metaphorical, but as straight as they come. He walks into the studio, steps up to the mic and lays it all down - no paper, no pen - just his words and his life.

Dexter Hicks (aka "Dex") - Dex draws inspiration from artists like Jay-Z, Fabulous, Cassidy and Jadakiss. At first, he was timid about his talents, unsure about his voice and his flow. Yet, ever since he’s had the opportunity to produce like a real artist, he’s been compared to his idols, and has been described to be the next Jay-Z with as much swag and lyrical style.

Larry Houston (aka "Preppy") - Preppy got his name because of his fashion. His flavor is much different from his band mates; however, his R&B vocals blend beautifully with the rhymes and rhythms of Dex and Charlie.S. He is an innovator and a versatile artist who has the ability to lay down soft riffs and hard raps.

Since being signed with K.O.R. Enterprises Inc., Charlie.S, Dex and Preppy have exprienced so much in only a few months. They’ve begun to live the lives they’ve only dreamt of, but they’ve also put in the hard work that comes with being successful. The boys discuss how their lives have changed since joining the K.O.R.E. family and how they intend to take their success to new heights.

Preppy: "A lot has changed! We used to have to scrape money together in order to get studio time. We didn’t grow up with a lot of money. When we couldn’t afford studio time, we would record in my attic using a USB mic and a downloaded trial version of Mixcraft. It was basic recording software; every time the trial version expired, we would restart my whole computer and redownload the software just to continue recording. Since signing with K.O.R., things have been more consistent being able to go into the studio and lay down songs."

Charlie: "Once we got into the studio more often the songs just flowed. We have over 250 songs recorded. Since signing with K.O.R. we’ve had a lot more guidance and focus. Chase has been a great mentor teaching about the business."

Preppy: "Chase has been more like a father figure to us. He keeps it real and has taught us how to handle ourselves and be better artists."

Charlie: "He’s taught us so much. Maybe one day we can start our own labels and  mentor kids who are just like us and pass on the knowledge we’ve learned."

Dex: "Chase showed me the music game. He talked with me and my mother talking us through everything step by step on how to get into the music business. I’ve progressed from where I started as an artist, and it’s been a blessing having Chase invest in us and help us create our music. And it’s not just about the music. Since signing with K.O.R. we’ve focused on improving ourselves learning to respect people around us, especially our parents. I used to hate going to school, but Chase showed me how it is important to stay in school and get my priorities straight."

Charlie: "K.O.R. has been a great management team-showing us how to improve as  artists. They tell us straight if we’re doing things wrong or if we need to improve our work. Slacking off isn’t an option. They motivate us to create and to reach our potential."
