Sandy Sansing Nissan Delivers First Nissan Leaf Purchase

Jan. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Pensacola, Florida, January 3, 2012—Sandy Sansing Nissan recently delivered its first Nissan Leaf to Ed Benson of Foley, Alabama.  Mr. Benson stated that he purchased the car because he liked the fact that it had zero emissions.  Environmentally conscious of his carbon footprint, Mr. Benson’s company, Ed Benson’s Appliance Store, utilizes a fleet of hybrid vehicles that he hopes one day to replace with an all-electric fleet.  When that day arrives, Benson is ready.  He has installed several charging stations at his place of business for not only his future fleet, but for other electric car owners as well.

The Nissan Leaf is the first mass-produced, all-electric vehicle manufactured in the U.S. and is the first all-electric vehicle to receive a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA).  Charged by a standard 220-volt home outlet, the car has a range of 100 miles with speeds up to 90 mph.  Based on the national average for electrical rates, the Leaf should cost only three dollars to charge.  

The vehicle has not only wowed environmentally-conscious consumers, but industry critics as well. The Leaf was named the 2011 World Car of the Year, Kelley Blue Book’s Top Green Car of the Year and Ward’s Ten Best Engines.
