Jan. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- BALTIMORE, MD  – Hyatt Regency Baltimore has been named one of “Baltimore’s Top 75 Workplaces” by The Baltimore Sun, the region’s leading media company, in its inaugural special report on regional businesses. Of the 1,275 firms invited to participate in the poll, the hotel was ranked second in the Midsize Employers (150-399 employees) Category for 2011. The Hyatt is the only Baltimore hotel to win the award.

Hyatt Regency Baltimore also ranked first in the “Direction” category among all companies of any size in the Baltimore metropolitan area. According to The Baltimore Sun, this special honor recognizes the strong values and expert leadership of Hyatt as well associates’ endorsement of the course the company is taking as well as its values. Hyatt Regency Baltimore was also highlighted for high scores in five other areas, including Managers, Pay and benefits, and Career.

According to the hotel’s General Manager, Gail Smith-Howard, Hyatt Regency Baltimore is delighted to receive this recognition and especially to be singled out in the Direction category. “There is no greater joy for me than to work with an engaged set of team members, who share the same passion, pride, and love for the hospitality business as I do,” she notes.

Adds Smith-Howard: “Hyatt is a phenomenal company to work for and our mantra as we proudly exclaim at the hotel level is ‘we are Hyatt’. Every day as a leadership team we ask how can we make it better for our employees and guests; how can we create loyalty with our team members and guests.”

To conduct its 2011 Baltimore’s Top Workplaces poll, The Baltimore Sun partnered with Workplace-Dynamics, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Human Resources metrics firm, which determined the region’s top workplaces through a comprehensive, months-long process. More than 24,000 Baltimore area employees received the surveys, which rated the companies in 23 areas including Direction, Execution, Career, Conditions, Managers, Pay and benefits, and Engagement. Employers were ranked within their size category based solely on the responses from employees.
