Hudson Valley Photographer Lands Contract of the Century

And within the commercial photography industry, that saying can definitely prove true, as indicated by the glowing success of Blue Sky Photography's owner and Hudson Valley Photographer, Steven Planck, (http://www.blueskyphotographyny.com) who just signed one of the biggest commercial photography contracts of his career. A New York, Hudson Valley photographer who's best known by his peers in the photography community for his success as an artistic wedding photographer, Steven's much more low key and less likely to talk about his successes as a commercial and product photographer,  but he's no stranger to the studio and knows that long hours and hard work get laid there. Steven's latest commercial client JABEL JEWELRY, contracted him to photograph their new lineup of diamond rings and wedding bands for their 2012 unavailing, worth upwards of $250,000. The photography, which takes place in early 2012 at the Blue Sky Photography studios in Wappingers Falls, features three full time photographers, make up artists, retouchers and a stylist, live digital capture, dressing rooms, bay doors, elevators, 13 foot ceilings and 10 foot windows and a natural abundance of hot talent, capable of producing high end results on budget and on time.

“Talent, drive and determination alone aren’t enough to propel you toward success in commercial photography,” says Steven Planck, Blue Sky Photography's owner. “Often it's your mistakes in life that prove to be your biggest teachers, if you're smart enough to learn from them. Getting the company to where it is today, wasn't easy. Overcoming a declining economy took nerve and vision and I thank God for seeing us through. Lord knows it wasn't easy, but we're on the other side of it now, stronger and bigger than ever."

Since starting Blue Sky Photography in 2003, the company has seen both large and small commercial photography jobs come through the door, having photographed products from Disney, Ralph Lauren, Guess, Champion Sports as well as Bed Bath and Beyond to the smaller, local assignments for companies such as Black Electric, Hudson Valley Magazine, Dear Doctor, Neave Landscaping Group, Hudson Valley Dental Arts and Hudson Valley Lighting.

“No job is too big or too small,” Planck says. “Photography is my passion and a labor of love. So long as I'm able to hold a camera, I'll continue taking pictures.”
