Biblical Archaeology Society Offers Scholarships for Excavation Volunteers

The Biblical Archaeology Society is accepting applications for interested archaeology students to participate in archaeological excavations throughout the Holy Land.

PRLog - Dec. 30, 2011 - DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, D.C. -- Every year the Biblical Archaeology Society (BAS) offers scholarships of $1,000 to a few people participating in excavations in the Holy Land who would otherwise not be able to volunteer. Many of these volunteers return with stories about their adventures in Israel and elsewhere, and their words and photographs feature in the January/February 2012 issue of Biblical Archaeology Review (BAR) to highlight the many intangible benefits of traveling abroad to work on an archaeological excavation.

The Biblical Archaeology Society is now accepting applications for the 2012 Dig Scholarships. Applicants must write a letter stating who you are, where and why you want to dig, and why you should be selected for a scholarship. Please include mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, and the names, addresses and phone numbers of two references. Applications may be mailed to BAS Dig Scholarships, 4710 41st Street, NW, Washington, DC 20016.

Applications must be received by March 15, 2012.

The BAS Dig Scholarship program is made possible by the generous contributions of donors. To see a complete list of the 2011 Dig Scholarship donors and winners, visit our web site.
