Team HelpAge India Visit Pilani Schools for SAVE Mission

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 30, 2011 - HelpAge India voices the concerns of India’s elderly. Mathew Cherian, Chief Executive of Helpage India who had graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science – BITS Pilani says “The elderly need food; they need pensions; they need healthcare and we are completely at a loss, and this problem is only going to grow. Its high a time the government of India addresses this issue without any further delay.”  

Located in Shekhawati Rajasthan, Pilani which glitters like a diamond in the educational map of India today is well known for various top ranking educational institutions, CSIR Laboratory CEERI as well as upcoming BrahMos Missile Assembly Project unit.

A team of three lead members – Subhankar Biswas, Susmita Ghose and Nilesh from HelpAge India SAVE Mission visited Pilani to spread the message to various Pilani schools. The objective of their visit was to spread awareness of the 3 core values of SAVE (a) inculcating values of care & respect for the elderly in school going children, (b) Preparing today’s children & youth for their old age, and (c) Creating an age friendly society. The schools covered by them in this visit for popularizing the SAVE anthem and administering the pledge included Birla Shishu Vihar (BSV), Jamuna Mishra Academy (JMA), Udairamji Padia Vidya Mandir, CEERI Vidya Mandir, Smt. Janaki Devi Mandelia Senior Secondary School and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV - Kajra).

The team also visited Shridhar University Pilani and interacted with Pro Vice Chancellor Prof BR Natarajan and addressed various faculty members and students and urged them to spread the care for old message to a larger audience. The team profusely thanked Shridhar University for the wholehearted cooperation and particularly Prof Praveen Dubey for the excellent coordination.
