Dec. 28, 2011 - The Memoir I Rise was Authored by Toni Newman, Editor Kevin Hogan, Foreword Dr. Marc Weiss, Assisted by Alton Demore, and Cover Photo Eric Scot. The memoir discusses the transformation from male to female in the African American perspective from the very beginning to current day. The memoir reveals the double discrimination both from society and from within the African American culture making the road very difficult but not obtainable. Poverty and Homelessness blocked the path but Ms. Newman Rose to Victory. The Book I Rise has been turned into screenplay called The Erotic Professionals to be directed by Film Director Keith Holland and Produced by Alton Demore. First screenplay to feature African American Transgender lead as one of the 3 main characters. Toni Newman is a 1985 graduate of Wake Forest University and currently a student of law at Abraham Lincoln University School of Law.
