Dec. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- “Becoming a Competent Communicator is a great achievement in public speaking,” said Pamela Winter, DTM, Toastmasters Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training, for metro New Jersey, Staten Island, and Rockland County, New York. Lisa Pantano, DTM, Toastmasters District 83 Governor stated, “It requires a certain level of mastery of both communication and leadership skills. Anita can really be proud of this accomplishment.”

After completing the ten Competent Communication projects, a member is entitled to the Competent Communicator award, and may add the post-nominal CC to their name for Toastmasters purposes. After achieving their CC, the Toastmaster then can go on to more advanced projects. There are 15 advanced manuals in the Toastmasters program, each consisting of five projects. These include projects on sales presentations, speaking to inform, speeches by management, interpretative reading, speaking on television, entertaining dinner speaking, communicating with news media, interpersonal communication, and others.

Club president Paula Camarinha presented Anita D. Crum with a special pin to recognize the milestone.  Anita joined Toastmasters in 2010 and currently serves as Vice President of Education for Toastmasters Club of Union.

“Achieving this accomplishment is a major boost to my confidence, especially in the areas of speaking and leadership development, said Crum.  "Through Toastmasters communication and leadership training, I not only sharpened my public speaking skills, I discovered my voice.”
