Follow on Google News | Charity Gives Award To Amateur Theatre GroupSounds Familiar, the Costa Blanca show group run by Philip Ashley, received a certificate of appreciation on Monday evening from The Friends of the Children of Emaus.
By: Chris Farrow Sounds Familiar’s first performance in February 2009 was for The Friends of the Children of Emaus, and since then they have carried out at least one show a year plus other concerts to help raise money for this worthwhile charity. These have included Musical Magic, West End Nights and Party’s on the House. Rehearsals are already underway for their next production to be performed in April 2012, a selection of songs from well know Broadway shows. The show promises an evening of song and dance and something for everyone’s taste. The group itself has grown from the original seventeen members to the current size of thirty five, giving greater scope in the types of music that can be tackled. Sounds Familiar is just one of the ventures that ‘Philip Ashley Presents’ promotes. With any show or concert giving a minimum of 25% of the tickets sales to charity, along with programme and raffle sales when these happen. This year alone Emaus has received over €3,000 and in total €6,210 has been raised and given to local charities in 2011. Philip is currently working on a Variety Show, that he hopes to present towards the end of February. Also other concerts and shows for later in the year. # # # Web Design, Graphic Design and Video Productions from our base on the Costa Blanca in Spain.
