During the busy holiday season, with so many things going on, shoppers are finding they don’t have time to get all of their shopping done before Christmas.
Recognizing the need for a last minute option, and the opportunity to help people practice lifelong learning, Community Business College has teamed up with the speed of the Internet to announce that it will be accepting orders for class gift certificates until 11:59 P.M. on December 24, 2011, Christmas Eve. Gift certificates will then be transmitted via “Santa’s”
Suggestions for how to wrap and present the gift certificates are available at the school’s community enrichment classes registration site: www.cbcwebcollege.com/
Why The Last Minute Option?
With Christmas Day falling on a Sunday, many shoppers find they miss that “one last weekend” shopping burst to finish their shopping list. This situation means a more stressful time, especially for those who maintain packed schedules from Monday through Friday. In more and more cases, even overnight shipping is now too slow, and with reports of at least one big retailer not being able to deliver on orders, there needs to be an alternative.
Dan Guerra, Director of Community Business College says this effort was inspired by his father who gained a family reputation of waiting until the last minute to finish his Christmas shopping - “Literally one night he was out at 11 PM on Christmas Eve, Christmas shopping. He earned the reputation for being the ultimate last minute shopper and then enjoyed telling people how, even though it was 3 P.M. on Christmas Eve, he had plenty of time left. No 7-Eleven or 24-hour store was safe when he went on his big, last minute, shopping run. It soon became a family tradition. Now with the powerful tool of the Internet, last minute shopping can all be done from home with no waiting for mail or express package delivery.”
Gift certificates apply to all of the college’s online and on-ground classes, both short-term and long term. Examples of how people use gift certificates are:
A class on digital photography and how to use a new digital camera you just got as a gift. This class can be combined with a Photoshop class for spectacular effects.
A class on QuickBooks software to learn how to prepare for the end of the fiscal year and get ready for tax season.
An online class on how to start an arts and crafts business. This class focuses on what makes marketing in arts and crafts different from marketing in other businesses and how to organize a small business. Students like learning how to make some extra money doing something they enjoy.
Language classes help students learn a new language in 2012. With over 30 languages from which to choose, it’s never too late to start speaking and communicating in a new language in as short as three months.
