Dec. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Now parents of present and prospective patients of Children’s and Women’s Physicians of Westchester, LLP, (CWPW), www.cwpw.org have the entire organization at their fingertips, thanks to the release of a new App created specifically for the Hudson Valley-based organization.

The just-released App, available free and downloadable to iPad and iPhone users, as well as in iTunes store, is another step in the forward-thinking progress of CWPW to provide access to the growing number of physician office locations and subspecialty care. The brainchild of Leonard Newman, MD, President of CWPW stated, “The new App just became available and is already helping parents to gain additional access to important information about their child’s medical care.”

“First and foremost, the new App tells people who we are,” Dr. Newman explains. “It has the benefits of identifying our physicians; now parents will know more about our physicians and what they look like before they come in for an appointment. They can see our quarterly newsletter, and they can get immediate directions to any of our 25 physician offices located throughout Westchester, Rockland, the lower Hudson Valley, New Jersey and Fairfield County.”

Dr. Newman emphasizes that the CWPW App “dovetails nicely with electronic medical records,” which CWPW undertook earlier this year as part of a major upgrade to its IT structure.

The new CWPW App is designed with ease of use in mind. Created by The Hodges Partnership of Richmond, VA, the App features a striking CWPW logo, a brief description of the organization, individual departments, physician names, photographs and subspecialties, office locations and contact information, as well as an interactive map pinpointing the exact street address of CWPW offices, enabling drivers to easily locate their nearest CWPW practice. A journal section or journal tab is also available for parents to take notes on their child’s care, and any other relevant information germane to an upcoming office visit, and retain the information for continued use.

According to Gerard Villucci, Chief Executive Officer at CWPW, an internal survey revealed that about a significant number of CWPW patient families owned an iPhone, an iPad, or both. This led him and his colleagues to pursue Dr. Newman’s idea to develop an App to help patient families to navigate the organization. “Mr. Villucci says. “It’s a great concept — and it’s a free service for our patients’ families.”

The ubiquity of technology led the CWPW team to consider ways of simplifying access to their cadre of physicians and individual offices, and the App seemed a natural progression, Mr. Villucci states. “With the App, if parents want to look up a specific doctor or specialty, it’s all right there.”

The App is also part of CWPW’s effort to brand itself as the premier pediatric health care group in the region. “This will help to increase visibility to current and prospective patient families throughout the region,” Mr. Villucci points out.

“At this stage,” Dr. Newman says, “it is a unique way of saying to families, here we are, this is what we’re doing, this is where to find us, and here are some of the best physicians in the New York metropolitan area.”

CWPW is the largest group of pediatric specialists of its kind in the region, and offers comprehensive care for infants, children, young adults and expecting women through 25 regional offices in New York State, Connecticut and New Jersey.
