New ELS Center now open in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the campus of Marquette University

ELS is pleased to announce that ELS/Milwaukee has opened on the campus of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This marks the opening of our 50th center on a university campus.

ELS/Milwaukee opened May 2, 2011 on the campus of Marquette University, a large private college that is ranked among the top universities.

ELS/Milwaukee is located in the largest city in Wisconsin.  Milwaukee offers many outdoor activities that include sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing on Lake Michigan.  Other opportunities include museums, ethnic dining, cultural festivals, professional sports, gardens and parks including the Milwaukee County Zoo.

Chicago, Illinois is two hours away, and is easily accessible by both automobile and train.

ELS/Milwaukee offers all of the basic ELS programs:  English for Academic Purposes, General English, Semi-intensive English and the American Explorer Program.  It operates as a Schedule B Center.

Marquette University
Marquette University's campus, situated in the center of Milwaukee, is approximately 36 hectares, and includes a five-hectare outdoor athletics complex called Valley Fields.

Founded in 1881, Marquette University has been educating people to be leaders in their professional lives, their communities and in society for 130 years.  Since its first five graduates were awarded bachelor of arts degrees in the late 1880s, Marquette has grown into a modern coeducational campus of more than 11,500 students who learn and grow through nationally admired undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.

Marquette University accepts ELS Level 112 (intensive English for Academic Purposes) with a cumulative average of 3.0 during Levels 110-112 in place of the TOEFL® requirement.  Conditional admission to qualified students for selected undergraduate and graduate programs. Some programs have additional ELS requirements.

Marquette offers nearly 70 undergraduate majors and 40 popular masters degree programs, including an MBA program and several engineering programs.

ELS students have free access to all of the university’s facilities, including the library, basketball courts, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, bowling alleys, racquetball/squash courts, weight/fitness room, yoga rooms and saunas, steam room and whirlpools.

Marquette University was ranked # 75 in the Top National Universities classification by U.S. News & World Report, in 2011.

•  Milwaukee is the main cultural and economic center of the Milwaukee–Racine–Waukesha Metropolitan Area with a population of 1,751,400 as of 2010.  Milwaukee is also the regional center of the seven-county Greater Milwaukee Area.
