The two-week long food drive was held at the company’s corporate office where employees were encouraged to donate canned or non-perishable food items. With an overwhelming supply of canned goods, rice, boxed pasta and more, the items collected were delivered to the ACFB and will be distributed to families and individuals throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia.
The Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) opened its doors in 1979 and now distributes over 30 million pounds of food and grocery items each year from a 129,600 square foot-facility in N.W. Atlanta. Over 700 partner nonprofits utilize the ACFB’s food and grocery items to provide food assistance to families and individuals in 38 counties in metro Atlanta and North Georgia.
According to a recent Feeding America study, 1.4 million Georgians receive emergency food from Georgia food banks. The latest Census Bureau American Community Survey stated that Georgia’s poverty level has increased from 1.6 million in 2009 to 1.7 million in 2011, an increase of 100,000 people in poverty.
“This holiday season, we were honored to support such a deserving organization like the Atlanta Community Food Bank,” said Mike Scarbrough, CEO of NexTraq. “I am impressed by the amount of generosity the NexTraq team showed towards its community.”
