►Chicago's New Year's Day Run & Walk! Sunday, January 1

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 20, 2011 - CHICAGO—Area runners will again kick off the new year on a healthy footing at Chicago's annual New Year's Day 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, January 1. Celebrating its 27th year, the iconic event is the Windy City's first official 5K of 2012.

►Start time is 11:00 a.m. at 1600 Stockton Drive (at LaSalle Street, near North Avenue at the south end of Lincoln Park). The course route then wends north along the lakefront bike path to Diversey Harbor before returning to the North Avenue Field House.

A portion of run/walk  proceeds will benefit the Lake View Citizens' Council, a non-profit neighborhood organization.

Pre-registration for the event's 5K competitive-time run, 5K fun run and 5K walk is $30 in advance and on-site. (NOTE: There will be no on-site registration for the 5K competitive-timed run.)

Again this year, a  post-run/walk gathering will be held at Sedgwick's Bar & Grill, 1935 N. Sedgwick.

In addition to winner trophies and raffle prizes, the gathering will also include a complimentary drink to those 21 years of age and older (with ID).
