Falls, in particular, are a very serious problem for seniors. Falling is the leading cause of injury deaths among people 65 years or older. In the United States, one of every three people in this age group falls every year. Of all fractures from falls, hip fractures cause the greatest number of deaths and lead to the most severe health problems.
"We are pleased to make this important information available as part of our senior outreach initiative,"
Entitled "Fall Prevention Program," the free booklet outlines the seriousness of falls, common risk factors, a home safety checklist and the role physical therapy can play in minimizing the risk of falling and maintaining range of motion. Reddy Care regularly performs balance and risk of fall assessments for many seniors among its patients.
To obtain a copy of the booklet, Western Nassau County and Queens residents should contact Reddy Care Physical Therapy at 516-829-0030. Visit at www.reddycare.net
