Open Call for Submissions for Annual Anthology, Soul Vomit; 2012 Theme: Domestic Violence

New annual anthology published by Broken Publications is now open for submissions for its 2012 issue of Soul Vomit. The theme for the issue is domestic violence, survival, aftermath, and recovery and healing.

Dec. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Broken Publications is having an open call for submissions for the 2012 anthology, Soul Vomit. The theme for this issue is domestic violence: the abuse cycle, emotional turmoil the victim goes through, the effect it has on the victim, gathering strength, healing, recovering, and overcoming sometimes crippling fear and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder due to spousal rape or physical abuse.

The purpose of this anthology is to raise awareness of the problem that is domestic violence. As an offense that goes unreported more often than not and happens behind closed doors, domestic violence is an issue that people should know about and be aware of for their own safety as well as the safety of their friends and family.

The anthology is scheduled for publication in the beginning of December of 2012, and submissions are being accepted from now until October 1st of 2012. Writers and artists are encouraged to submit black and white art or photography for the interior pages, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, essays, and color art for the book's cover.

Because of the nature of the theme of domestic violence, contributors have the option to remain anonymous. This should be specified in the cover letter sent with the submission. Each writer or artist can submit up to five (5) pieces.

It should also be noted that there will likely be work graphic or violent in nature. The goal is not to sugar-coat the reality of abuse; the goal is to expose it and inspire victims to gather the strength to leave or witnesses to overthrow their apathy and say something.

There are too many women, children, and even men who fight a battle against fear every single day. Because they often cannot say anything themselves, it's important for others to stand up and let abusers know that what they're doing isn't alright.
