Dec. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®) is proud to announce that the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) has accredited its wound, ostomy and continence nursing certification programs. Accreditation by the NCCA demonstrates that the WOCNCB has met stringent standards set by the NCCA to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public. Accreditation has been granted for the following WOCNCB certification programs:

•   CWOCN® - Certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse
•   CWCN® - Certified Wound Care Nurse
•   COCN® - Certified Ostomy Care Nurse
•   CCCN® - Certified Continence Care Nurse
•   CWON® - Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse

According to Diana Gallagher, MS, RN, CWOCN, CFCN, CHT and president of the WOCNCB, “Accreditation by this prestigious national agency validates that the WOCNCB certification process and programs meet our goals to provide specialty certification that protects the public and serves our certificants with quality. Further, accreditation indicates that the operational structure and management of the WOCNCB meet and even exceed certification industry standards for legal, regulatory and association management compliance.”

NCCA evaluates certification organizations for compliance with the NCCA Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs, which exceed the requirements set forth by the American Psychological Association and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Accreditation status is granted for five years. For further information about NCCA and the NCCA accreditation process and standards, visit their website at HTTP://www.credentiallingexcellence.org.
