16 December 2011 – Individual and firm-based landscapers are attempting to diversify their services to rake in more income this holiday season, as landscaping and gardening jobs are not that hot during the cold season of the year.

The holiday cheer is not really helping professional contractors like landscapers with their work. Instead, not only are they hard put to find more clients with landscaping needs because of the economy which is in turn affecting how much their clients can spend, but also because of the expected holiday spending where clients would want to save up as much as they could to still enjoy the holidays despite the economic situation.

Middle class income families already had a hard time to save up for the holidays, so landscapers aren’t too keen on getting any jobs from them that could take away from their holiday. Throughout the past year when temperatures soared and gardens and landscapes needed a lot of work, homeowners have tried their best to go DIY and save up on landscaper fees, and this in turn has already made it difficult for landscapers to scrape out a proper living.

So as soon as the holiday approached these last couple weeks of November, some landscapers have been thinking up ways to diversify the services they offer and not rely too much on seasonal work. One obvious solution is offering winter decoration work. Since landscapers are experts in landscapes and gardens in the first place, they are the ideal folks to dress up your lawn or garden for the season.

Of course, new services are factoring in the economic climate and are designed to not only fit the season, but the typical clientele’s budget. Offering affordable services outside of the usual landscaping, landscapers are earning more than what they would otherwise.

Of course, a lot of them are also preparing for the coming fall planting season and for the cycle to go over again. Most are putting up websites that offer services, advice, free quotes, and even online consultations that are already proven to increase even an individual contractor’s client base.
