Dec. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Fibromyalgia Conference & Pamper Weekend during April 6-9 2012, Easter Weekend, will welcome day visitors for the first time.  The 3rd annual Fibromyalgia Conference will be offering just 50 two day passes for visitors to hear the speakers on Saturday and Sunday for £79 each. The pass will include a buffet lunch and tea breaks on both days from 9am to 6pm and will not be transferable.

With access to 12 educational presentations, 12 workshops, several exercise and movement classes, and good company, for two days during Easter weekend, April 6/9 2012, at the Chichester Park Hotel, West Sussex, it is thought this will benefit fibromites feeling the economic squeeze but still wishing to keep in touch with research news. With access on two days during Easter weekend, with the special pass, these visitors will however miss out on the evening entertainment, the Olympic ‘style’ challenges and a mixture fun, laughter and entertainment.

The organisers believe this will help those who live close to the venue, have friends in the area to stay with, or those who want to take potluck with local accommodation. A list of accommodation can be provided.

For residential delegates staying for 4 days 3 nights, Friday to Monday, the cost will be £179 per person sharing a double room (sorry no single rooms) including 3 meals, tea breaks, the conference, workshops, exercise and movement classes - costing under £45 a day and evening entertainment. These delegates can join in the evening Fibro Fillies race, the fun competitions presentations and see comedian Paul James. For easy stage payments make contact ASAP. Do bring a friend or partner to share as the hotel charges an additional £50 single supplement if one person occupies a double room.

Apart from the usual unique blend of education and enjoyment the organising FibCon Team have also caught the Olympic bug with plans for a few achievable 2012 fibro 'challenges’. These includes a patriotic decorated cake bake competition, a knitting challenge, with this pastime considered to be a potential diversion from pain, so dig out your wool and needles, an Olympic fancy dress competition, with an Olympic Easter bonnet parade and an Olympic charity dash.  There will be an easy Olympic ‘splash’ in swimwear in Chichester Park Hotel’s warm indoor swimming pool with Fibro Duck playing an active part. The Fibro Fillies race night will also include an Olympic fibro style challenge to be confirmed.  There is also talk about an Strictly Come Dancing challenge and the creation of an Olympic dance. Although the organisers cannot promise a gold medal they will try to offer something to remember the occasion if you win.

On Friday afternoon an exciting and lively debate is planned with several notable people on stage to discuss the Second Independent Review of the Work Capability Assessment, a sensitive subject for fibromites. Pam Stewart, Chair of the FMA UK’s Trustees, who is familiar with this Review, will be chairing this debate.  Residential delegates are asked to arrive by 3pm to take advantage of this special extra topical event.  More news later.

Subject to confirmation the weekend speakers should include an American doctor, leading researchers, specialists and experts talking about fibromyalgia, sleep, myofascial pain, nutrition, gastric conditions and other FM symptoms. Workshops will introduce an author on writing your first book, a weather boffin talking about the pressure and our health, computers for beginners, knitting challenge, yoga laughter, guided imagery healing, facial fun, a benefits man from the DWP, Pilates, yoga, tai chi, belly dancing lesson, colour healing, hydrotherapy and in house beauty therapies. The FibCon team is still working on the programme.

The conference also offers an opportunity to meet old friends, talk to like-minded people and a rare opportunity to speak with the specialists on a one to one basis.  Once again it is hoped on arrival to bring together single travellers, young folk, and group leaders. Possibly deep-sea fishing and golf at Goodwood can be arranged for partners if booked early. There is also the option for couples to stay on as an Easter vacation and make a week of it doing what they want, when we have packed up and gone home. For the romantics we can offer a four-poster bed.

With a move from the Holiday Village to a comfortable family hotel with all mod cons - the Chichester Park Hotel, just off the A27 - offers satellite colour TV, telephone, tea-making, trouser press, and en suite facilities, sadly we have less beds. Booking as soon as possible is important with a 50% deposit needed to secure your room or your 2-day pass.  For staged payment details please contact us.

Please contact Simon at fibcon2012bookings@gmail.com, ring 0780 - 680 8862 or write to 10 Tangmere Court, Seafield Road, Rustington BN16 2GW, to confirm your needs for a double bed or twin singles on the 1st floor. Your deposit will secure your booking. Cheque to be made payable to Fibromyalgia Conference 2012.
