Dec. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Capita’s Future of Youth Justice Conference takes its impetus from significant changes taking place in the criminal justice system and youth services. Payments by Results (PbR) initiatives in youth provision were launched just last month and the revised framework of probation inspections for youth offending teams is due out in February.

Taking place in March 2012, this event is perfectly timed to enhance your organisation’s planning, commissioning and delivery of services. The day takes a compelling look at strategic developments in the youth justice system, bringing together the sector’s key decision-makers to address the need-to-know issues and concerns, including:

•   Input from one of the PbR pathfinder pilots talking about the lessons learnt to date
•   HM Probation’s new inspection framework, following the virtual reference group’s consultation
•   The future role of the YJB
•   Best use of the restorative justice grant money soon to be made available to youth justice
•   Addressing the high incidence of mental health and learning disability issues amongst young offenders

Benefits of Attending

•   Pose your questions to high-level representatives from the Ministry of Justice and the Youth Justice Board on reducing the prevalence of youth crime and reforming the youth justice system
•   Hear directly from a YJB Justice Reinvestment Pathfinder on how they have invested to reduce custody through community alternatives
•   Take the opportunity to hear from our expert speakers about their views on the underlying causes of the August riots and the impact this has on strengthening early intervention strategies
•   Gain insight into the impact of effective restorative justice practices in schools, PRUs, with parents, care homes and youth diversion
•   Understand the importance of joining up mental health and youth offending services with existing criminal justice models
•   Explore how the police can work in partnership with schools to develop new education and prevention initiatives to prevent youth gang culture
