Thailand Medical Tourism Guidebook Released by TAT & MasterCard®

Dec. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with MasterCard, is launching a travel guidebook called “Healing Harmony, A Guide to Health & Wellness Holidays in Thailand", for foreign tourists from around the world who are interested in health and wellness tourism at The Westin Grande Sukhumvit on Wednesday, September 28, 2011.

Ms. Pensuda Priaram, TAT’s Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business, stated that “Thailand has more than 200 Hospitals and clinics which have accreditations meeting international standards, 19,000 medical doctors and more than 100,000 registered nurses. Moreover, value for money, in terms of the quality of services available, is undeniable. In addition, Thailand also offers a plethora of health and wellness services to meet every demand, such as spas, Thai massage establishments, Thai herbal treatments, as well as a multitude of places to visit and tourism activities to accommodate every lifestyle. For the above reasons, Thailand welcomed more than 1.8 million tourists from around the world in 2010, who were happy to take advantage of the vast services that Thailand has to offer.”

TAT has produced the travel guide book “Healing Harmony” in 2 languages – English and Arabic – to provide information on health and wellness tourism in eight destinations in Thailand, namely: Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Koh Chang and Chiang Rai.

Furthermore, in conjunction with MasterCard, “Healing Harmony” also offers over 50 Special Privileges to MasterCard cardholders, from any bank worldwide, to take advantage of Thailand’s world-class healthcare and wellness services in selected hospitals, clinics, and spas throughout the Kingdom.

“Healing Harmony” will not only be disseminated at trade fairs and at TAT events abroad, but will also be available for purchase, both in hard copy format and as an e-book, through Amazon.com, as well as at other top bookstores such as Asia Books and Kinokuniya.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) was established on the 18th March 1960. TAT was the first organization in Thailand to be specifically responsible for the promotion of tourism.

TAT supplies information and data on tourist areas to the public, publicizes Thailand with the intention of encouraging both Thai and international tourists to travel in and around Thailand, conducts studies to set development plans for tourist destinations, and co-operates with and supports the production and development of personnel in the field of tourism.

Since the inception of the first local office of TAT in Chiang Mai in 1968, there are now 35 regional offices throughout Thailand. TAT has also established many overseas offices the first being in New York, which was opened in 1965. During the past 30 years, TAT has since established 15 more offices in different parts of the world.
