Ignite Announces its First Ever Internship Tour, Beginning April 2012

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 15, 2011 - Jackson, Miss. (Thursday, December 15, 2011) – The 2012 Ignite Internship Tour is the first of its kind to be hosted by the organization and is scheduled to stop in four cities around the state – Jackson, Hattiesburg, Biloxi and Greenwood. The first stop in the tour will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Jackson Medical Mall, located at 350 W. Woodrow Wilson Avenue in Jackson.

The tour will feature employers who are currently seeking interns and/or volunteers and will be looking to hire students who attend these events. High school seniors and college students are invited to register for free to attend this opportunity filled event. Recruiters from area colleges and universities will also be in attendance for high school seniors who are in need of more information about local institutions.

“I wanted to include high school seniors in this event because it is never too early to start thinking about interning. The more experience a student has on his or her resume increases the likelihood of them being selected to intern in the future,” says Ignite founder Shae Williams. The Internship Tour is a part of the organization’s College 101 program. The College 101 program was established within the organization to encourage secondary education and to serve as a source for information about college life for students and their parents. This program was designed especially with high school students in mind. Ignite participants will have the opportunity to receive help with applying for college and securing scholarships as well as visit college campuses across the state to receive a first-hand experience of what attending that institution may be like.
