Dec. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Willow Wellness and Chiropractic Care of Doylestown is excited to introduce its newest service!  Meghan Maguire, CTRS of Thrive Individualized Recreation Therapy will begin seeing clients for 1:1 sessions beginning in January 2012.  Depending on client needs, services may be provided at the office, in the community, or in the client's home.

So what is recreation therapy?  Recreation therapy is an allied health profession that utilizes recreation and leisure activities as a means to meet client goals.  Therapy focuses on developing skills to maximize physical, social, emotional, and cognitive well-being.  

Recreation therapy interventions may include, but are not limited to: art activities, board games, community outings/community re-integration, sensory stimulation, organized sports/cooperative games, adapted sports and leisure, culinary activities, horticulture, reminiscence, adventure therapy, anger management, and health promotion and leisure education.

In addition to 1:1 treatment, Meghan will also be teaching a variety of classes beginning with "The Six Dimensions of Wellness."  This class will provide you with the skills needed to achieve your health-related new year's resolutions.  Techniques for incorporating the 6 dimensions of wellness into daily life will be provided, as well as a lesson on creating attainable goals.  It's a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and finally develop a well-balanced lifestyle!  Call the office at 215-692-2438 to sign up!
