The American Patriot Alliance announced today the launch of the “Patriots For Prayer/Tim Tebow” Initiative for Life in response to criticism from various anti-Christian and pro-choice groups, who ridicule the athlete for bowing on one knee after each touchdown and giving thanks to God.
One blog, Abortion Gang, a pro-choice/pro-
“…if you’re a sports fan that also thinks women should be able to do what they want, when they want, and how they want it with their uteri, you can join in this too. For every touchdown Tebow throws next week (when the Broncos play against another famous QB, Tom Brady) , donate $5 or $10 to your local pro-choice organization.”
“If their entire effort wasn’t geared towards supporting organizations that advocate the murder of unborn children, it would be rather funny,” explained APA Executive Director Robert Philip Dean. “Sadly, this does nothing more than provide financial assistance to organizations who have absolutely no value for human life. I believe Christians should respond in kind and offer the same support to groups who advocate both the sanctity of life and Christian beliefs. It’s sad to think a man like Tim Tebow is ridiculed for his beliefs, but it goes a long way in highlighting how far we’ve moved from our founding Christian heritage.”
The American Patriot Alliance has pledged to donate $10 for each touchdown scored by the Denver Broncos while Tebow is behind center in the game. If the Broncos make the play-offs, the APA will up the donations to $25 for each game, and should they make the Super Bowl, the pledge will increase to $50 per touchdown.
The following groups have been chosen by The American Patriot Alliance for donations:
The National Right To Life
Americans United For Life
American Center for Law & Justice
When asked about the criticism Tebow has received from former sports figures and politicians, Dean responded, “I look at this not as a direct attack on Tim himself, but on the whole idea of Christianity. At this time of the year, particularly, we are seeing groups come out of the woodwork in opposition to the celebration of the birth of Christ, including Muslim groups who have gone so far as to demand we stop celebrating Christmas or ‘there will be hell to pay.’”
“When we have businesses that prohibit the use of Merry Christmas in their advertising materials, or forbid their employees from saying Merry Christmas, we see how far the erosion of morality in this country has gone. Its time to renew the moral, Christian fiber of the nation and turn back into the direction of exceptionalism through Christ,” Dean concluded.
