Brims with all the joy of a Disney movie, makes Amazon Hot New Releases Happiness list
15 December 2011 – now on Amazon.com and Lulu.com, Teresa Fritschi's inaugural literary effort entitled All That I Need, or Live Like a Dog With Its Head Stuck Out the Car Window
A heaping plate of pre-holiday season gratitude is served up in the release of a charming new book entitled All That I Need, or Live Like a Dog With Its Head Stuck Out the Car Window. In the best memoir fashion that is also part travel journal, Ms Fritschi plucks the ripe fruits of happiness from her own experiences as examples for all of us to embrace. In twenty-three chapters, Fritschi takes us on a wondrous journey of sensual discoveries first made in childhood and imparts the wisdom of maintaining (or re-learning)
The odd price point of $6.05 for the e-version of her book was explained by Ms Fritschi as being the cost of her ‘Green Monster’ from Starbucks – a cold blended drink with orange-mango juice, a frozen banana, Matcha green tea, vanilla soy milk and protein powder. “I wanted to shift perspective with a bit of irony. Like Ann Patchett I don’t believe our society assigns the appropriate value to the written word or books specifically. My point being that for the same price as a couple of lattes a book will sustain your being long after you toss the empty cup out.”
The cover art and graphic art supporting the physical book make All That I Need much more of a coffee table book than the ubiquitous ‘paperback’
Early readers of the manuscript were not the traditional path of professional book reviewers rather, Fritschi opted to tap individuals across gender, age and country of birth to offer their thoughts.
“Ms Fritschi writes with the nuanced complexity and magic of a Disney movie,” said Jennifer Sertl author of Strategy, Leadership and the Soul. “Each reader will take something different and meaningful from All That I Need depending upon their own experience and point of reference.”
Tim Auerhahn the Aquatics Director for Midtown Athletic Club said, “Terri’s ‘wow, let’s go’ attitude jumps off every page, her book is the literary equivalent of ‘who can make the biggest cannonball in the pool!’ She has vividly captured her own journey from a recreational swimmer to one in racing form and for speed. All That I Need will be especially inspiring for every adult swimmer longing to tap their inner Dana Torres or Michael Phelps.”
Christopher P. Lopez, AIA, AICP, principal of PLAN Architectural Studio expressed, “Ms Fritschi is a master painter of life’s everyday occurrences, both extraordinary and relevant. In the spirit of ancient storytelling, and with the freshest of contemporary expression, she tweaks our inner senses of nostalgia and reminds us of the incredible gift of being sentient humans.”
Philippe Petot, head of business development/
"Admittedly, achieving our life goals while maintaining our inner child in contemporary society can be daunting," said Ms Fritschi. "With a global epidemic of uncertainty I wanted to provide a reminder of the pleasure which can be had in devouring a whole box of Cracker Jack (without guilt) as an inexpensive path toward realizing the real prize our own lives can be."
