Dec. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Penyrheol’s family panto is full of beans!

Jack and the Beanstalk, this winter’s pantomime at Penyrheol Theatre, will be a glittering family show full of beans.

Presented by the Friendship Theatre Group, who have donated over £137,000 during the past 18 years to local good causes, the show runs on selected days from Thursday 12th to Saturday 21st January 2012.

The annual panto at Penyrheol Theatre has become a firm favourite in the local calendar. Theatre manager, Emma Evans, says: “With loads of comedy, audience participation, and song and dance this year’s performances promise to be another hit.”

The story follows Jack, played by Greg Arthur, who sells his beloved cow, Buttermilk, for just five beans.

It then looks like he and his mother, Dame Dotty Dimple, Alan Williams, will lose everything.

But little do they know that the beans are magic beans, and something strange begins to grow in the back garden.

Hold your breath as the beanstalk grows bigger and bigger and Jack embarks on an adventure that sees him come face to face with the Giant, Rob Green, at his castle in the clouds.

Join Jack and the gang on an adventure of a lifetime, where no opportunity for magic and sparkle has been missed in this hilarious and magical re-telling of the traditional children’s tale.

Pantomime favourite, Denys Jenkins, or Denny Twp as he is better known, adds a touch of comic colour to the show. Denny, who also penned the script, says: “Families who come to see the show are in for a treat.

“Jack and the Beanstalk is an adventurous story of good defeating evil, a rag-to-riches tale of a poor lad winning the hand of a beautiful princess – with plenty of fun, laughter and derring-do along the way.”

Denny is joined on stage by other talented members of the cast including Brian Hughes, in his 40th panto, playing the evil wizard.

The Friendship Dancers and Raie Copp Babes bring plenty of life to musical numbers with some dazzling routines choreographed by Melanie Sullivan and Raie Copp.

Jack and the Beanstalk is written by Denys Jenkins. Theatrical direction is by Dean Verbeck, and musical direction by Robert Jenkins.

Jack and the Beanstalk runs at Penyrheol Theatre, on selected days, from Thursday 12th to Saturday 21st January 2012.

Tickets starting at £9.50, with discounts available fro group bookings, concessions and Passport to Leisure holders, are available from Penyrheol Theatre, telephone 01792 897039 or online at http://www.swansea.gov.uk/penyrheoltheatre.
