Do Books Still Matter in Genealogy?

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 14, 2011 - Nancy and Biff Barnes, editors from Stories To Tell, will join host Thomas MacEntee on GeneaBloggers Radio, at 8:00 p.m. (CST) Friday, December 16th to discuss the question, “Do Books Still Matter in Genealogy?”
The conversation will address the issues raised when RootsTech, one of the nation’s largest genealogy events, decided to exclude book publishers, book sellers and vendors of book related services from its exhibit hall. RootsTech, which bills itself as a “a leading edge conference designed to bring technologists together with genealogists” said it had decided to exclude some vendors because they were not providing “technically related products and services.” Following this weekend's social media uproar, RootsTech revisited the decision and extended exhibit hall space to book sellers and book related services.
“We appreciate Thomas providing a forum to discuss this critical question,” said Nancy Barnes, the owner of Stories To Tell (http://www.storiestotellbooks.com/). Stories To Tell specializes in family history books and memoirs, providing editing, book design and publishing consulting to genealogists. Her company was one of the vendors banned and then reinstated by RootsTech. “Biff and I are looking forward to talking about why creating family history books is essential to genealogists.”
Joining Nancy and Biff as guests will be: A representative from RootsTech 2012; Leland Meitzler of Family Roots Publishing Co., another  vendor initially banned from RootsTech; and Curt B. Witcher, MA, FUGA, FIGS, Genealogy Center Manager at the Allen County Public Library in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
